Anthea Herron B.A. LL.B
Anthea has over 25 years' experience as a commercial lawyer in Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand and currently works as a lawyer for Juno Legal. Anthea has been a representative of the Medbury Parents’ Association on the Trust Board since 2016 and became the first female Chair of the Medbury School Trust Board in June 2019.
Nicholas Tyler BE CIVIL, BSC
Nicholas is a Civil Engineer with more than 25 years experience in the Civil Infrastructure and Roading Industry in New Zealand. Having graduated from Canterbury University his most recent roles include CEO of Canterbury based roading company Calcon Limited and Southern Regional Manager of Higgins Contractors Limited. Nicholas brings sound governance and commercial acumen to the Board founded on many years experience in private and corporate business environments. Nicholas is an old boy of Medbury, father of two boys both of who attended Medbury and husband to Tracey. Nicholas has served on the Trust Board since 2006 and the Medbury Old Boys' Association Committee since 2001.
Mark Cochran B.SURV, MNZIS, RPSURV
Mark is a Director of Woods Ltd, a multidisciplinary professional services consultancy, specialising in the areas of infrastructure, planning, urban design, architecture and land development. He is a Registered Professional Surveyor with 20 years’ experience in the surveying, engineer and land development sector and has been involved in a broad range of commercial, residential and infrastructure projects. Mark is a Medbury Parents Association representative on the Board.
Nick Fogarty B.A. LL.B
A qualified solicitor, Nick has worked across a number of industries spending time with leading UK law firm Herbert Smith before moving into trade development roles with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise in Spain and then New Zealand. Nick joined ARANZ Geo, a global software company headquartered in Christchurch, in 2013 as Regional Director Latin America and is now General Manager responsible for the firm’s global Mining and Minerals business.
Michael Flatman MSc
Michael is the Chief Executive of the Māia Health Foundation, a health-based foundation raising funds for key projects that will add significant value to the health of the Canterbury community. He has 20 years’ experience in a variety of marketing related roles in both the public and private sector. Michael is the father of three children, one of whom is at Medbury and he is the Medbury School Foundation’s representative on the Trust Board.
Nick Harvey BCom
Nick Harvey is one of the Medbury Old Boy’s Association representatives on the Trust Board. In 2017, after more than a decade leading international advertising agencies across Australia and New Zealand, Nick returned to Christchurch with his wife, feeling that Christchurch and Canterbury was the right place to raise their two young children. Nick is the Managing Partner of Strategy Creative, Christchurch.
Michelle Cathcart MBA
Michelle is the General Manager, Safety & People at Ngai Tahu Farming. In addition to her knowledge and skills in these areas, Michelle brings to the Board her governance experience in the not-for-profit sector and her wide project management and general commercial experience in various industries. Michelle and Richard are the parents of Tom in Year 5.
Andrew Wyllie BCom, AFA
Graduating from Lincoln University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Commerce, Andrew has over 20 years experience in the finance industry and has been with Forsyth Barr as an Investment Advisor for over 16 years, prior to this working for a major New Zealand bank. Andrew is an Authorised Financial Adviser (2011) and is accredited as an NZX Adviser. He specialises in managing personalised investment portfolios for a wide range of clients including individuals, family trusts and community organisations. Andrew is the father of three children, one of whom is at Medbury. Andrew is an appointed member of the Trust Board.
Andrew Leete LLB (Hons), BA
Andrew has been a commercial and corporate lawyer for over 20 years specialising in company establishment and restructuring, acquisition, disposing of companies, commercial undertakings, forming commercial joint ventures, banking and finance. He is a Medbury Old boy and has a son at Medbury. Andrew spent 6 years on the Board of a state school including 3 years as a Chair. He is involved in various governance roles, including his own business, and providing ongoing education on governance matters for entities such as the Law Society and the Institute of Directors. He is an appointed member of the Trust Board.
Gillian Smith JP, BMS, Grad Dip Tchg
Gillian is an educator, a parent and a life-long learner. After completing her BMS she worked in banking and advertising in NZ, Australia and the UK. She retrained as a teacher and has taught at primary level in state schools and worked at a Senior Management level. She is now working with tertiary level students as Assistant Principal at College House. Her children both went through St Andrew's College and are now adults – one a winemaker and one a lawyer. Gillian is currently studying towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling. She believes in volunteering and contributing back to society. Gillian is an appointed member of the Trust Board.
