Nick Harvey is one of the Medbury Old Boy’s Association representatives on the Trust Board. In 2017, after more than a decade leading international advertising agencies across Australia and New Zealand, Nick returned to Christchurch with his wife, feeling that Christchurch and Canterbury was the right place to raise their two young children. Nick is CEO at Plato Creative.
Michael is the Chief Executive of the Māia Health Foundation, a health-based foundation raising funds for key projects that will add significant value to the health of the Canterbury community. He has 20 years’ experience in a variety of marketing related roles in both the public and private sector. Michael is the father of three children and he is the Medbury School Foundation’s representative on the Trust Board.
A qualified solicitor, Nick has worked across a number of industries spending time with leading UK law firm Herbert Smith Freehills before moving into trade development roles with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise in Spain and then New Zealand. Nick joined Seequent, a global geosciences software company headquartered in Christchurch, in 2013 and now holds the role of Executive Vice President Asia Pacific.
Michelle is the Group Safety, Wellbeing & Environment Manager at PGG Wrightson Ltd. In addition to her knowledge and skills in these areas, Michelle brings to the Board her governance experience in the not-for-profit sector and her wide project management and general commercial experience in various industries. Michelle and Richard are the parents of Tom in Year 7.
Graduating from Lincoln University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Commerce, Andrew has over 20 years experience in the finance industry and has been with Forsyth Barr as an Investment Advisor for over 16 years, prior to this working for a major New Zealand bank. Andrew is an Authorised Financial Adviser (2011) and is accredited as an NZX Adviser. He specialises in managing personalised investment portfolios for a wide range of clients including individuals, family trusts and community organisations. Andrew is the father of three children, one of whom is at Medbury. Andrew is an appointed member of the Trust Board.
Andrew has been a commercial and corporate lawyer for over 20 years specialising in company establishment and restructuring, acquisition, disposing of companies, commercial undertakings, forming commercial joint ventures, banking and finance. He is a Medbury Old boy and has a son at Medbury. Andrew spent 6 years on the Board of a state school including 3 years as a Chair. He is involved in various governance roles, including his own business, and providing ongoing education on governance matters for entities such as the Law Society and the Institute of Directors. He is an appointed member of the Trust Board.
Gillian is an educator, a parent and a life-long learner. After completing her BMS she worked in banking and advertising in NZ, Australia and the UK. She retrained as a teacher and has taught at primary level in state schools and worked at a Senior Management level. She is now working with tertiary level students as Assistant Principal at College House. Her children both went through St Andrew's College and are now adults – one a winemaker and one a lawyer. Gillian is currently studying towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling. She believes in volunteering and contributing back to society. Gillian is an appointed member of the Trust Board.
Jonathan is a construction industry advisor and strategist. He has a strong focus on organisational culture, project establishment, governance and delivery and offers significant project experience in roles both Client-side and Contractor-side. He provides Independent Construction advice and observation throughout Project Delivery, including planning, programme management, design & pre-construction advice, site observation and QA support through to project completion & occupation.
Simon has over 25 years tertiary law teaching experience and is currently the Assistant Dean (Students) in Te Kaupeka Ture | Faculty of Law at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury. Before joining the Faculty, Simon held roles with the NZ Institute of Professional Legal Studies, the NZ College of Law and the Articles Training Program in Western Australia. He has also undertaken law and justice sector development-aid assignments in the Pacific including a stint in Dili, Timor Leste and multiple deployments to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
Simon is an Old Boy who believes strongly in the positive contribution that independent schools make in the nation’s education sector. He previously served on the Trust Board 2009-2020 and rejoined as a Board appointee in 2023.
