Brass Demonstration by the CSO at Medbury School

Today Medbury welcomed five brass musicians from the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO) for a demonstration to ignite some sparks of curiosity for playing brass instruments.

A woodwind showcase will follow later this term, and an orchestral workshop will be held each term, where the boys will have the opportunity to play and learn alongside members of the CSO.

The opportunities are part of the Centre of Excellence for Music at Medbury School, a collaboration between Medbury School and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra to create a hub dedicated to nurturing musical talent and innovation.

"This visit from the CSO is just the beginning of an extraordinary journey for our students," said Dave Scott, Headmaster of Medbury School. "Our collaboration with the CSO will not only enrich our music programs but also nurture a deep appreciation for music among our students.”

Medbury has long enjoyed a relationship with the CSO and has a number of boys already involved in CSO Ambassadors, NXT Gen Think Tank and Accelerando Strings. Many of our current Itinerant Music Teachers play in the CSO.

With state-of-the-art facilities and unparalleled mentorship and coaching for both students and staff from CSO professionals, boys at Medbury School will have access to world-class musical training and a chance to showcase their talents at workshops and concerts and refine their skills under the guidance of seasoned professionals.
