Last Friday, Medbury School hosted the much-anticipated Open Orchestra Workshop in collaboration with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO). From 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, our boys and students from local schools had the privilege of playing alongside ten professional CSO musicians, marking another successful event in our ongoing partnership.

The workshop proved a unique experience for our students, allowing them to receive expert guidance on their instruments while also having the opportunity to ask questions and learn from professional members of an orchestra. The highlight was undoubtedly the final performance, where the newly formed orchestra showcased their learning to an audience of proud family members.

Our boys were thrilled to play with the visiting musicians, expressing how much they enjoyed learning from such accomplished professionals. The opportunity to collaborate with students from other schools added to the excitement, creating an enriching environment that both challenged and inspired them.

A big thank you to Jonathan Tanner who conducts our orchestra and has continued to provide expert guidance each week with the boys.

We are excited to continue our collaboration with the CSO into 2025 to provide more opportunities for our boys to achieve excellence in music.
