“A boy with values is a boy set for life.”

The school motto, ‘Play the Game' is a very important feature of Medbury daily life. It sets the standard for all behaviour and attitude, whether in class, on the playing field, in social interaction and activities and beyond the school gates.

The school teaches and lives by a set of core traditional Christian values that are cornerstones for life:

  • Empathy
  • Excellence
  • Fairness
  • Generosity
  • Inclusiveness
  • Integrity
  • Humility
  • Loyalty
  • Perseverance
  • Pride
  • Respect
  • Responsibility

But his Captain's hand on his shoulder smote - "Play up! Play up! And Play the Game!" (an excerpt from Sir Henry Newbolt’s 'VitaÏ Lampada')

Each value becomes a central focus area for three weeks of the academic year. Every class is assigned a specific value and it is their responsibility to create a display outlining and promoting the value for the school. They are also required to create an assembly item where they present to the school their definition of the value and some strong message to reflect on over the next three week period.

The values are also integrated into our own curriculum framework to ensure that they underpin all that we do at Medbury School.
