The Medbury Values

The 12 Medbury values underpin the Medbury Way. The values are integrated into the curriculum and become part of the boys’ everyday school life, from manners to ‘doing the right thing’. The values also become part of the fabric of the wider Medbury Family. They give clear direction for all staff, parents and the Trust Board, influencing day-to-day and strategic decisions.

The Medbury Values are:

• Empathy

• Excellence

• Fairness

• Generosity

• Inclusiveness

• Integrity

• Humility

• Loyalty

• Perseverance

• Pride

• Respect

• Responsibility

The Medbury Family

The Medbury values underpin the ‘Medbury Family’, which is a very strong element of the school. Our ‘Family’ is supported by Class Representatives from the Parents’ Association, a strong and involved group who bring the ‘Family’ together regularly; and a long-established Old Boys’ Association. Our values are further reinforced through the school house system and our engagement with the community, with fundraising initiatives for many local and national organisations.

Christian Values at Medbury

Medbury School is not aligned with any religious denomination, but we have had a longstanding connection with St Barnabas, the local Anglican Church. Every boy is expected to attend two services, designed for the boys, a term. The school’s Divinity Curriculum enables the boys to understand and be introduced to various forms of faith, with the common seed being strong traditional Christian values. The boys are taught the skills of writing prayers and singing a wide variety of traditional hymns. The goal is for every boy to leave Medbury with a good understanding of and empathy for the various and different aspects of society.
