The city of Christchurch
Medbury School is located in Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand, which is amongst one of the safest and most beautiful countries in the world. New Zealand has a pristine natural environment of mountains, lakes and coasts, with an array of outdoor activities.
Christchurch is the second largest city in New Zealand with a population of 350,000 and has an international airport located only 10 minutes from our school. Situated on the east coast of the South Island, bordered by hills and the Pacific Ocean, it is on the edge of the Canterbury Plains that stretch to the Southern Alps. The climate here is temperate and Christchurch has a rich history and an ethnically diverse population. There is a thriving sports, arts and entertainment scene, with surf beaches 20 minutes from Medbury and ten alpine ski fields within two hours drive.
Medbury School is situated in the heart of the city in Fendalton amongst established housing suburbs. The school sustained minimal damage during the earthquakes of 2011 and within days the school was functioning fully again.
