Sandra Johnson - Head of Art & Specialist Teachers Team Leader

Sandi came to Medbury from the Advisory Service and prior to that she taught at St Martins Primary School. She holds a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning and a Higher Diploma of Teaching, endorsed in Art Education, and is passionate about the Arts.


Chrissie Badger - Director of Music

At Medbury, Chrissie is responsible for the whole School Music curriculum oversight and delivery, Senior Choir, and instrumental work in conjunction with Tutors assigned to lead Orchestra and Concert Band. Chrissie directs the House Music Extravaganzas and is responsible for continually growing ideas and new directions for music at Medbury. Prior to joining Medbury, Chrissie taught at a number of schools in Christchurch, was the Co-Director of a music extension programme and has also been the massed Choirs' Music Conductor of The Christchurch Primary Schools’ Music Festival for eight years.


Glen Taylor - Director of Sport

Glen has a Diploma of Teaching from Auckland Teacher’s College and has been teaching Physical Education for over 20 years. He taught at King’s School in Auckland before taking over Head of Department at St Kentigern School for Boys. In 2007 he relocated with his family to Christchurch to take on the role at Medbury School. Glen is also part of the Boarding House team.


Brad Gilbert - Years 1 to 6 PE Teacher

Brad has a Bachelor of Education, specialising in Physical Education from the University of Canterbury. Brad started working at Medbury in 2015 and it is his first teaching job since graduating. Brad is a keen sports enthusiast and has coached rugby and cricket at many different levels prior to commencing teaching at Medbury.  Brad is also part of the Boarding House team.


Jan Taylor - Head of Science

Jan has been involved in education for over 35 years and has a lot of experience working with senior students at intermediate schools. He holds a Bachelor of Education and has recently completed a Master of Science with First Class Honours in Zoology. Jan has taught Science at Medbury since 2008.


Kerri Fitzgerald - Head of Drama

Kerri returned to teach at Medbury in 2014 after working abroad as the Arts and Activities Director at International School Bangkok. She has always worked in education specialising in the Performing Arts and literacy, and was Director of Theatre Arts at Rangi Ruru Girls’ School for thirteen years. In the recent past, as an Arts Advisor at the University of Canterbury, Kerri worked on intensive Arts professional development programs to support teacher learning in the Arts and to raise student achievement.


Warren Grieve - ICT Director / Digital Technology Specialist

With over 30 years teaching experience, Warren has enjoyed this time at Medbury since joining in 2002 as a specialist in ICT, and as a class teacher. Warren has a Bachelor of Education and Diploma in Primary Teaching.


Jo Keleghan - Middle & Senior School Mathematics Teacher & Librarian

Jo holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education. She began her career as a High School physics teacher and has taught in the UK and New Zealand. Jo joined Medbury in 2008 as a reliever and joined the permanent teaching staff in 2013.


Jena Davidson - Junior Music Teacher

Jena holds a Bachelor of Music from Canterbury University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary) from the New Zealand Graduate School of Education. Prior to joining Medbury she taught at Swannanoa School for five years in both the junior and senior school. In previous years Jena has worked for the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and Showbiz Christchurch.
